NFL Draft: Texas star Quinn Ewers announces his intentions
Ohio State defeated Evers and the Longhorns in the CFP semifinals.
Texas Longhorns star quarterback Quinn Ewers declared for the NFL Draft on Wednesday.
Longhorns coaches and teammates were thanked by Evers in a video he posted on his social media pages, expressing gratitude for their support during his time playing in the burnt orange and white.
I have always dreamed of playing football on the 40 acres, and the past three years have been some of the best of my life. The relationships I have built with coaches and teammates will endure forever. I am deeply grateful for the chance to play football in my home state, at the greatest university in the world.
"I have decided to declare for the NFL Draft after careful consideration and with prayer. Thank you."
Ewers made his decision amid rumors about whether he would enter the transfer portal or declare for the draft. On3 Sports reported that he had a $6 million offer to transfer out of Texas and play elsewhere next season.
However, that does not seem to be the case now.
The College Football Playoff semifinals saw Ohio State defeat the Texas star, ending their 2024 season in a crushing loss.
This season, the Longhorns had Evers with 3,472 passing yards and 31 touchdown passes.
The top two quarterbacks in the draft class, Sedeur Sanders and Cam Ward, are currently being considered, but their positions could shift based on their performance in workouts before the event.
