Kite surfer rescues drowning woman in the Atlantic Ocean and attributes the success to divine intervention.
He said of God, "All glory and honor to Him."
On Jan. 10, in Sao Luís, Brazil, Brazilian Olympian Bruno Lobo saved a drowning woman and attributed his actions to God's intervention.
"I was used by God to save a young woman, and all glory goes to Him," wrote on Instagram (translated from Portuguese).
Lobo, an orthopaedic doctor and a two-time Pan American Games champion, competed in kite surfing at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
At the time of the rescue, Lobo stated in the video that he was busy training and went into the ocean at around 5:40 p.m. local time to perform the final test.
He went to the coast on a cloudy day with windy conditions, but he decided to test the support that had arrived. It was the first day using this material, and he set the camera to record the experience.
Then he saw her.
"As I sailed a few meters, I heard a cry for help and saw a girl drowning. I quickly approached her with the kite and tried to calm her down. She was exhausted and had no strength left. I used the equipment to bring her safely to the sand," Lobo continued.
The woman was brought back to shore by Lobo using his gear, and then received additional assistance from lifeguards.
World Sailing released a statement commending Lobo's heroics on Monday.
"Bruno Lobo, an Olympic kitesurfer, bravely rescued a woman in distress while training with his new camera off the coast of São Luís, Brazil. Well done, Bruno."
Bruno concluded his video with a warning to fans and viewers.
"Beware of the dangers in unknown places, including the sea and rivers, due to the strong currents that can occur."
