On Tuesday, Martina Navratilova, a former women's tennis star, commented on the House of Representatives' vote on the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act. The Republican majority passed the bill unanimously, with only two Democrat House members supporting it, while the rest did not.

X has criticized Democrat lawmakers for supporting trans inclusion in women and girls' sports, and Navratilova has also taken a firm stance against it.

"Disgraceful are the Democrats who disregard women, girls, and their safety, fairness, as evidenced by the fact that only two of them supported the bill," she wrote in response to the news.

Navratilova argued that there should be more than two Democratic House members who oppose trans inclusion and urged them to "stand up" against it.

"Many Dems are scared to speak up due to re-election, but it's time for them to step up and do the right thing," she wrote.

Navratilova has previously criticized the left for their differing perspectives on the issue.

In a December post on X, the tennis legend expressed her frustration that Republicans have addressed the nationwide controversy instead of Democrats, the party with which she identifies.

She wrote that she was furious that the Republicans seized this issue, and that all the elected Democrats were to blame for their silence on the matter.

In June, the tennis legend attended the "Take Back Title IX" rally held by the Independent Women's Forum, where she and other prominent female athletes opposed the Biden administration's revision of Title IX.

She recounted her experience of being criticized by fellow liberals for her stance on trans inclusion.

"Now, it’s, ‘Oh, you’re a bigot.’ Go figure. I’ve been out since ’81, yeah, I’m a bigot,” she said. "‘You’re a homophobe, you’re a transphobe, you’re a Nazi, you’re a fascist, you’re a communist,’ everything and everything in between. And this is coming from the left. I am the left! My people are turning on me. They’re turning on us, women, who speak up for women’s sex-based rights."

In March, Navratilova made a plea to "keep women's sports female."
