They have their third head coach in just over a year.

In early 2024, after 24 seasons of coaching, Bill Belichick and the team parted ways, and Jerod Mayo was hired to replace him, who is widely regarded as one of the greatest coaches of all time.

After a 4-13 season, Kraft fired Mayo and hired Mike Vrabel, who was available last offseason.

Vince Wilfork agrees with Rob Gronkowski that Mayo was set up and did not have a chance, stating this on Tuesday.

"In a recent interview with Planet Chronicle Digital, Wilfork stated that he believes the conversation was fabricated and unfair, as he knows Jerod personally and is aware of the discussions."

Wilfork remarked that Mayo coached "the same crappy roster" that Belichick created and "failed" with.

What was Mayo planning to do with the same individuals that Bill brought in? Mayo discovered the future quarterback, Drake Maye, and it's unfortunate, but it's part of the game and business, according to Wilfork.

At a Super Bowl party promotion event, Wilfork spoke with Planet Chronicle Digital about Tums, which he endorses to prevent heartburn. Tums and DraftKings have partnered to offer a Fantasy Foodball Pool, where players can draft their ideal game-day meals for free and have a chance to win cash prizes.

"Food and sports go hand-in-hand, and the collaboration between Tums and Foodball is a perfect match. When you combine football, DraftKings, and the chance to win, it keeps things fun. You can enjoy this with your friends, have a good time, and everything is themed around food. It's a light and competitive way to bring people together. We're talking about food, sports, football - it's all about the experience."

Although Wilfork let Mayo go, he believes Vrabel is the best person to get the Patriots back on track.

Wilfork expressed his happiness for Vrabel, stating that he played with him and that Vrabel coached him in Houston. He described Vrabel as a good friend and someone who checks all the boxes when it comes to running the team. Wilfork expressed hope that Vrabel can get them back on track and that it's time for them to do so. He also emphasized that Vrabel is a good person who can get them back going and on the right direction, but that it has a lot to do with the roster.

Wilfork played in Super Bowls with both Mayo and Vrabel on the same defensive unit and considers them both good friends. Although it may seem strange, Wilfork stated that it's "not awkward … just facts."

"Vrabel's coaching abilities and character are not the issue. I believe he is exceptional. He is the best coach I could have had. I simply think Mayo's experience was unjust," he stated.

I am confident in Vrabel's abilities to win. He demonstrated this with Tennessee, reaching the AFC Championship in his first year. I have no doubt that he is a great coach. I am thrilled that the Patriots have hired him.

"Mayo was unfairly treated, as he didn't have a chance. The situation was bullcrap from the start, and there was a lot of backstabbing involved. We'll see what happens, but it's all part of the game. However you look at it, it's unfair. Mayo never had a chance."
