Reports indicate that Nick Bosa of the 49ers was fined for wearing a MAGA hat.
Bosa stated that a fine would have been "commensurate" with the situation.
According to multiple reports, Nick Bosa was fined $11,255 by the NFL for wearing a MAGA hat on the field on October 27.
After their "Sunday Night Football" victory, the San Francisco 49ers' star edge rusher interrupted an interview with Brock Purdy while wearing a hat and gesturing to it.
According to Rule 5, Section 4, Article 8 of the NFL rulebook, players are prohibited from wearing certain items on game days.
During the game, players are not allowed to display personal messages on their clothing or equipment unless approved by the league office.
"The League prohibits any club or player from wearing, displaying, or conveying messages related to political activities, non-football events, causes, campaigns, or charitable causes on their game uniforms or equipment through helmet decals, arm bands, jersey patches, mouthpieces, or other affixed items. Any approved items must be modest in size, tasteful, non-commercial, and non-controversial, and must not be worn for more than one football season."
Bosa was questioned by reporters about his decision to wear a pro-Trump hat, and he responded by stating that he would not discuss it extensively, only mentioning that it was a significant moment.
He expressed no regrets when interviewed by the media the day after the election.
"It was well worth it," Bosa said before being fined.
"I won't change my stance on discussing it, so it's clear the country has spoken," Bosa stated. "We received what we received."
Bosa added that he stayed up to watch the election results Tuesday night.
Bosa said with a smile, "It was enjoyable and a great time."
Since before he was in the NFL, Bosa has been a longtime supporter of Trump. In 2019, he admitted to removing Trump posts and criticism of Colin Kaepernick from his X account, fearing that he may not be fully accepted by the City of San Francisco if he was drafted by the 49ers.
Grover Cleveland and Trump are the only two presidents to have served two nonconsecutive terms.
