Syracuse coach Fran Brown confesses to skipping showers following defeats: "I am undeserving of soap"
In Week 12, the California Golden Bears face off against Syracuse.
Boston College defeated the Syracuse Orange in Week 11, leaving them with a 6-3 record as they enter Week 12.
Fran Brown, the first-year head coach of Syracuse, revealed his postgame routine after a loss. Brown is very particular about losses and usually avoids showering, believing he doesn't "deserve soap."
He admitted that he didn't shower until early this morning after losing, and he was still angry. He only brushed his teeth and didn't feel like he deserved soap or to do anything else.
Brown said losing a game usually costs him sleep too.
"When we lose, I often wake up in the middle of the night, feeling frustrated and then I quickly move on," Brown stated.
"Brown stated that he follows a weekly process, regardless of the outcome, which involves his wife and not being able to sleep in the bed if they lose. He expressed his frustration by stating that he brushes his teeth to avoid having bad breath."
Prior to coaching at Syracuse, Brown had previously worked as an assistant coach at Georgia, Temple, Baylor, and Rutgers.
To become bowl eligible, the Orange needs to win one of the final three games, as they currently have six wins.
Under Brown's leadership, Syracuse began with a solid foundation, winning five out of its first six matches.
Syracuse's quarterback, Kyle McCord, has been a vital component of the team's success this season. McCord has passed for 3,153 yards and 23 touchdowns.
In the last three games, the quarterback has thrown six interceptions and four touchdowns.
On Saturday, the Orange will attempt to return to victory when they face the California Golden Bears.
