Ryan Clark, the Super Bowl champion, states that he has no intention of showing respect to Trump.
Vice President Kamala Harris lost her bid for re-election to President Donald Trump.
Ryan Clark, a Super Bowl champion defensive back and an NFL analyst for ESPN, discussed President-elect Donald Trump following his victory over Vice President Kamala Harris in the general election.
On Monday, Clark shared a video on his X account, reflecting on Trump's first presidency. He stated that his initial post about the election outcome brought back memories of how "polarized" the nation had become.
"This election had become so divisive, it reminded me of how divided our country had become."
Clark compared his emotions to how he felt during the Obama presidency. He stated that the Obama presidency was scandal-free. However, he failed to mention major issues such as the Benghazi attack, Operation Fast and Furious, and the IRS targeting scandal that occurred during Obama's two terms.
Clark stated that America was already great before the desire to 'Make America Great Again' emerged. For eight years, President Obama embodied class, grace, elegance, and decency, without any scandals, impeachments, felony charges, or indictments. However, the election of someone who ran on a campaign of bigotry and hate resulted in four years of ungracefulness.
"In 2016, someone in that office referred to peaceful protesters as sons of b----es. In 2020, in his final year, it wasn't just COVID that divided the country, but it was the most divided it had ever been."
Clark stated that he would not show respect to the individual but rather respect for the presidency's office.
The challenging part now is that although those who support him comprehend that not everyone who supports him shares his beliefs, they also believe that bigotry is acceptable," Clark stated. "They informed me that he values Christianity. Although I want salvation for all people, I will give him that grace. However, it will always be difficult for me to respect the man, and I won't. Nevertheless, I will respect the office.
"I desire to remain rational amidst an irrational environment. I aspire to maintain reasonableness in an unreasonable world. Consequently, I will refrain from being divisive. However, I fervently hope that he comprehends his role as our president."
