Nick Bosa was praised by Elon Musk for paying a fine for wearing a MAGA hat prior to Trump's election victory.
Since 2019, Trump has had Bosa's support.
Nick Bosa, a star player for the San Francisco 49ers, has been praised by conservatives as an election hero after wearing a "Make America Great Again" hat during a postgame interview on October 27.
On Saturday, Bosa was fined $11,255 for a stunt, which led Trump supporters to celebrate him.
Elon Musk expressed his excitement for defensive end Joey Bosa by posting a celebratory message on X with fire and American flag emojis.
Trump relied heavily on Musk's support during the final stages of his presidential campaign.
After an assassination attempt on the former president, Musk invested at least $130 million in the Trump campaign, funding a significant swing-state campaign operation in Pennsylvania.
The 49ers pass rusher, Bosa, has garnered support from both Musk and numerous NFL fans on social media following the news of the fine.
One fan wrote on X that Nick Bosa understands the value of standing up for what is right, even if it means incurring costs.
Critics were quick to criticize Bosa for flashing the hat, with one pointing out that he declined to elaborate on his stance when asked about it after the game.
The critic accused him of being a coward, stating that he fled from his own platform when asked to provide further details.
Bosa was questioned by reporters about his decision to wear a pro-Trump hat, and he responded by stating that he would not discuss it extensively, only mentioning that it was a significant moment.
The day after the election, Bosa expressed no regrets when speaking with the media.
"It was well worth it," Bosa said before being fined.
According to Rule 5, Section 4, Article 8 of the NFL rulebook, players are restricted in what they can wear on game days and are not permitted to express political views without prior league approval.
Since before he began his NFL career, Bosa has been a supporter of President-elect Trump. In 2019, he admitted to removing Trump posts and criticism of Colin Kaepernick from his X account due to concerns about being accepted by the City of San Francisco if he were drafted by the 49ers.
Brian Urlacher, a former Chicago Bears player, endorsed Bosa by commenting on his Instagram post featuring a collage of photos, including the image of him wearing a Trump cap.
Urlacher wrote "MAGA" in the comments section, accompanied by two American flags.
The 71st speaker of the California State Assembly, Robert Rivas, urged for Bosa to be traded.
"I hope Jed York trades Nick Bosa to Mar-A-Lago. As a lifelong 49ers fan, I've seen enough of Bosa in California," Rivas wrote on X.
Besides Bosa, Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker is also a vocal Trump supporter.
Patrick Mahomes' mother openly supported Trump, while his wife liked posts in support of Trump on social media.
