Chris Olave, a Saint, was placed on IR after being carted off with a concussion and will see a specialist.
Since 2020, Olave has had five documented concussions.
A miserable season for the New Orleans Saints is only getting worse.
On Sunday, the Saints suffered a significant setback when Chris Olave was injured after a severe tackle.
Olave was placed on injured reserve due to an injury, which means he will miss the team's next four games, at least.
Olave was hit by two Carolina Panthers defenders and fell face down on the field after being zipped over by Carr's ball.
As the game was paused, medical professionals rushed onto the field and carted off Olave on a backboard.
The Saints announced that Olave would not return to the game after sustaining a concussion.
Olave has been hit hard in the head multiple times this season, including a game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers where he had to leave due to a severe blow to the head.
Olave will also be consulting with an independent concussion specialist to gather more details about his history of brain injuries. He has experienced at least five documented concussions since 2020, all of which occurred in the NFL, with two of them happening this season alone.
Olave is a formidable player on the field, with 191 receptions for 2,565 yards and 10 touchdowns in 39 career games. He has achieved the 1,000-yard mark in each of his first two seasons in the NFL.
In the 2022 NFL Draft, Olave was the 11th pick out of Ohio State in a class of highly talented wide receivers, including Garrett Wilson and Jameson Williams. Other receivers selected that year were Christian Watson, Wan'Dale Robinson, George Pickens, Alec Pierce, and Romeo Doubs. However, Jahan Dotson and Treylon Burks have not quite lived up to their first-round billing.
The Saints, who began the season with a 2-0 record and scored a combined 91 points, have now lost seven straight games. Since then, they have scored 116 points, but their loss to the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, in which Olave was injured, resulted in the firing of head coach Dennis Allen.
