Fans of Ole Miss were eager to celebrate on Saturday night, but they began their festivities prematurely.

No. 3 Georgia was held to just 10 points by the 16th-seeded Rebels in an upset victory.

From the outset, the Rebels had a commanding victory over the Bulldogs. They scored 28 points to the Bulldogs' 3 points after Georgia's touchdown on its first drive of the game.

It was a matter of if, not when, fans would storm the field.

With 27 seconds remaining on their own 20-yard line, the Bulldogs faced a 4th and 20. Despite a completed pass, Georgia's Arian Smith fell short of a first down.

With 16 seconds remaining, Ole Miss was about to run out the clock, but the party was on and the fans rushed the field.

The game was not yet over, resulting in chaos as referees, security personnel, and the public address announcer attempted to remove hundreds of fans from the field.

As soon as the final kneel was taken, fans sprinted right back to the field. Order was quickly restored, and the fans left the field.

They quickly removed one of the goalposts.

The Rebels' victory is likely to grant them an at-large bid in the College Football Playoff, making it difficult to criticize their enthusiasm.

Since November 7, 2020, Georgia had not lost to a team other than Alabama.

Perhaps the party in Oxford will continue since Ole Miss is not scheduled to play next week.
