The Las Vegas Raiders have made their first big hire of the offseason.

According to multiple reports, it is predicted that the organization will designate John Spytek, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ assistant GM, as their next general manager.

Tom Telesco was replaced by Spytek as the general manager of the Raiders, after lasting only one season in the same position he held with the Los Angeles Chargers.

Spytek, 44, began his career in NFL front offices as a Detroit Lions operations intern in 2004 and has since accumulated an impressive track record.

He transitioned from the Philadelphia Eagles to the Cleveland Browns and Denver Broncos, serving as a college and pro scout from 2005-09, before finally settling in Tampa Bay in 2016.

As the director of player personnel for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, he collaborated with GM Jason Licht to construct a team that won the Super Bowl in 2021.

The Vince Lombardi Trophy returned to Tampa Bay due to the acquisition of Tom Brady, whom Spytek helped recruit after their time together at Michigan.

The Raiders continue that connection with Brady as he is a minority owner of the franchise.

Spytek progressed through the Bucs' front office, eventually becoming vice president of player personnel in 2021 and later moving to assistant GM in 2023.

After the firing of Antonio Pierce, the next big hire for the Raiders will be their head coach, with Spytek expected to assume his role soon.

The Raiders, with the sixth overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, are in dire need of a franchise quarterback and more playmakers on both sides of the ball. Some speculate that they may trade up to acquire a quarterback like Shedeur Sanders or Cam Ward.
