Blackburn predicts an increase in Democratic support for legislation safeguarding female athletes from transgender competitors.
While the majority of Democrats have publicly opposed halting trans inclusion, a few have expressed support for it.
The Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act, which passed in the House of Representatives, is expected to receive bipartisan support in the Senate, as it did in the House.
Blackburn revealed to Planet Chronicle Digital in an exclusive interview that she has conversed with numerous Democrats who back limiting transgender participation in women's sports.
Blackburn stated that many of his Democrat friends believe Title IX is a valid law and that it is inappropriate for biological males to compete against women in sports. They want their daughters, nieces, or granddaughters to have equal opportunities, and it frustrates them when they see or hear about transgender males playing in women's or girls' leagues.
Last Tuesday, the bill passed through the House with only two Democrats, Reps. Henry Cuellar and Vicente Gonzales, voting in favor of it. Blackburn anticipates that there will be more than one Democratic senator who will vote in favor of the bill when it is presented in the Senate.
She said she expected and hoped there would be.
Despite the support of many Republicans, most Democrats have remained steadfast in their opposition to the bill. Some have even made baseless claims that the law would allow child predators to perform genital exams on young girls.
Despite the absence of any language in the bill suggesting genital examinations would be performed, many Democratic House representatives, including Minority Rep. Leader Hakeem Jeffries and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, argued against the bill.
The Democrats' effort to link the bill to child predator empowerment has caused many Republican voters to abandon the party, according to a previous report by Planet Chronicle Digital.
Blackburn claims she is clueless about the thoughts of Democrats who contended it would strengthen child predators.
""Protecting girls in sports is not harmful, as a majority of Americans support it," Blackburn stated."
According to a recent survey by the New York Times and Ipsos, a significant number of Americans, including many Democrats, believe that transgender athletes should not be allowed to participate in female sports.
79% of the 2,128 participants said biological males who identify as women should not be allowed to participate in women's sports, while 67% of the 1,025 Democrats or leaning Democrats said transgender athletes should not be allowed to compete with women.
In 2024, the issue of trans athletes competing against women in sports became a significant point of contention during the election, with President Donald Trump and Republican candidates pledging to take action to prevent it.
The GOP will fulfill its commitment to the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act, which was the first bill introduced to the 119th Congress. Blackburn will strongly advocate for the bill in the Senate, where the Republican majority and some Democrats are expected to pass it for Trump to sign into law.
Blackburn is not stopping at just one proposal to address the issue; she is also introducing three other legislative and cultural proposals.
A Tennessee Senator and a Florida Congressman have jointly introduced a resolution urging the NCAA to abolish its policy on transgender student-athlete eligibility.
During a congressional hearing on Dec. 17, NCAA President Charlie Baker faced questions and criticism from Republican lawmakers regarding his policies. Baker repeatedly cited federal law and recent rulings of federal courts to justify his actions. However, a resolution proposed by Republican lawmakers, Blackburn and Steube, would force Baker and the NCAA to follow a new precedent instead.
The Fair Play for Girls Act, proposed by Blackburn, aims to keep women's sports for females and requires the U.S. Attorney General to submit an analysis of violence against women in athletics to Congress.
"Blackburn stated that they have spoken with various women who have experienced negative consequences. The attorney general must analyze the current state of sports and its impact on women and girls, identify obstacles to fair competition for girls, and examine instances where girls are losing opportunities due to their gender. Additionally, the analysis should include an examination of harassment against women and girls in athletics."
Last Congress, Senate Democrats prevented the passage of a resolution declaring Oct. 10 as "American Girls in Sports Day," which aimed to promote conscious protection of women and girls in sports.
The Roman numeral XX represents the XX chromosomes that determine female gender at birth on October 10th.
Blackburn believes that if the event were solely focused on teams and schools celebrating their achievements, and providing coaches with opportunities to recognize girls who have excelled in various sports, it would serve as an inspiration to more young girls to engage in sports.
Riley Gaines, Jennifer Sey, Caitlyn Jenner, Sage Steele, Concerned Women for America Legislative Action Committee, Parents Defending Education Action, and Independent Women's Forum have endorsed Blackburn's legislative proposals.
