Tua Tagovailoa, the Dolphins' star quarterback, is unlikely to play in the upcoming playoff game due to a hip injury.

For Miami to make the playoffs, the Dolphins must win while the Broncos must lose.

The Miami Dolphins are likely to be without their starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa when they face the New York Jets on Sunday, with a playoff berth at stake.

In his press conference on Friday, head coach Mike McDaniel stated that it is unlikely that Tua will participate in any gameplay.

The Dolphins' playoff chances rest on Tyler "Snoop" Huntley, who is filling in for injured Tua Tagovailoa for the second straight week with a hip injury.

Last week, in the Dolphins' 20-3 victory over the Cleveland Browns, Huntley completed 22 out of 26 passes for 225 yards and a touchdown while also rushing the ball seven times for 52 yards and a touchdown.

In the four relief games played by Huntley, the Dolphins have a record of 2-2.

If the Dolphins defeat the Jets and the Kansas City Chiefs defeat the Denver Broncos, the Dolphins will be the No. 7 seed in the AFC, facing off against the Buffalo Bills.

If the Broncos defeat the Chiefs, despite the Chiefs resting their starters, the Broncos will advance to the next round, regardless of the outcome of the Dolphins-Jets game.

If the Dolphins make the playoffs, Tagovailoa said he will play.

"If the cards play out as expected, I will be available next week," Tagovailoa stated confidently on Friday.

Tagovailoa's final regular-season stats show that he completed 72.9% of his passes for 2,867 yards, with 19 touchdowns and seven interceptions across 11 games.

In Week 2, Tagovailoa suffered a concussion against the Bills and missed time until the end of October, when he returned to play in a loss against the Arizona Cardinals.

In his five-year career, Tagovailoa has only started every game in one season, which was last year.
