Tom Brady's performance in his first game as a father of three.
Which quarterback will be remembered with more paternal qualities?
Patrick Mahomes will make his first appearance on the field for the Kansas City Chiefs as a father of three on Saturday.
On Jan. 12, Mahomes and his wife Brittany welcomed their newest daughter, Golden Raye. Despite having a bye week for the weekend of her arrival, Mahomes returned to practice just days later.
He will face the Houston Texans in the divisional round playoff game while also bearing the historic pressure of leading his team to a third straight Super Bowl and the personal pressure of fathering another newborn girl.
Unlike Brady, Mahomes must contend with a higher-stakes task as the only active quarterback with a chance to challenge his legacy.
Brady welcomed his third child, daughter Vivian Lake, on Dec. 5, 2012, before any playoff action.
The stakes were still high in Brady's first game after having his third child, just like Mahomes' first game after having a child was against the Houston Texans.
The New England Patriots, led by Brady, faced off against the Houston Texans, who were leading the AFC with an 11-1 record, in a Monday Night Football showdown at Gilette Stadium. The Patriots, with a 9-3 record, were determined to catch up to Houston and claim the top spot in the conference.
And Brady didn't miss a beat.
In the Patriots' signature game, the former quarterback threw for 296 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions, as New England dominated 42-14. Brady also had a standout performance on the ground, rushing for six yards on one carry.
Brady savored the victory as the ideal conclusion to the week, stating that his wife, Giselle Bundchen, was recovering well following the birth.
"Brady stated that Bundchen was performing exceptionally well after the game, adding that the week had been excellent and the ending was perfect."
If Mahomes can replicate Brady's 2012 performance, his recognition may be amplified even further.
If the Chiefs win the divisional round, they will be one step closer to winning their third consecutive Super Bowl title. The attention on Mahomes and his wife will intensify on Saturday, as Taylor Swift is expected to be present, possibly alongside Brittany.
Mahomes may not play football again after having a child, like Brady in 2012.
"He stated on Tuesday that he was content with having three children for the time being. When asked if he would have another child, he said, "We'll see down the line, maybe, but my goal was always three, so we've had three, and we'll stick there for a while and see if we need to come back and get another one later on.""
