The University of Alabama maintains its position in the penultimate rankings for the College Football Playoff in 2024, while the University of Miami faces challenges.
The selection committee is considering factors beyond just victories and defeats.
The College Football Playoff committee still favors Alabama.
The playoff prospects of Miami suffered a significant setback while Alabama experienced a positive shift in the rankings before the 12-team College Football Playoff bracket is revealed next weekend.
The Hurricanes (10-2) dropped six places to No. 12, becoming the first team to fall out of the projected bracket after losing their second game of the season. The Crimson Tide (9-3), who won last week, moved up two spots to No. 11, where they are projected as the last team in.
The selection committee is taking into account more than just wins and losses, but also other factors that suggest the Southeastern Conference has an advantage.
Oregon maintained its position as the top team in big-time college football for the fifth consecutive week and will enter the Big Ten title game on Saturday as the only unbeaten team.
The 12-team playoff for college football will have its pairings set on Sunday, following a series of conference championship games. The playoff games will commence on December 20th, culminating in the title game on January 20th in Atlanta.
