The Ravens-Bengals game ended with officiating that left Al Michaels fuming: "Too many games end this way"
'The frustration of the fans is immense.'
The Thursday night game was one of the best in recent memory and could have been the standout game of the year.
The Ravens and Bengals engaged in a close battle in the AFC North, with the outcome ultimately determined by a two-point conversion in a thrilling shootout.
Cincinnati's final drive was aided by the referees.
Despite the refs missing a facemask on the final drive and another roughing the passer earlier, Ja'Marr Chase still scored his third touchdown of the night, making it a one-point game.
On the two-point conversion, Joe Burrow was hit near the facemask, which has been called roughing the passer multiple times, and Baltimore may have committed two separate defensive holdings on the play. Burrow's pass to Tanner Hudson, who may have been held, fell incomplete.
Terry McAulay believed that the Ravens escaped two penalties during the play that ended the game, as Cincinnati failed to recover their onside kick, and Al Michaels was unenthusiastic about the call.
"The frustration of fans is understandable when too many games end this way. They just do. You miss calls. The whole thing. It’s so frustrating," Michaels pleaded.
In the fourth quarter, 34 points were scored, making the game an instant classic. Chase had 11 catches for 264 yards and three scores in the tough loss.
Lamar Jackson, the reigning MVP, completed 25 out of 33 passes for 290 yards and four touchdowns, each to a different receiver.
In their initial encounter this season, Baltimore emerged victorious with a score of 41-38.
The Ravens have won two straight games, despite losing to the Browns on the road. Meanwhile, the Bengals have lost four of their last six games, including struggles against contending teams.
In Week 11, Baltimore will face Pittsburgh in another division matchup, while Cincy will go to Los Angeles to play the Chargers.
