The Packers' losing streak ends as they lose their NFC playoff seeding after a game-winning field goal by the Bears.
The Packers' defeat and the Commanders' victory have placed them at No. 7 seed instead of No. 6.
On Sunday, the Green Bay Packers faced the Chicago Bears, who were not playing to spoil the game, but still had a lot to play for as they aimed to end the season on a positive note.
The Packers were defeated by the Bears, 24-22, thanks to Cairo Santos' 51-yard field goal, which ended Chicago's 10-game losing streak and resulted in a 5-12 record for the season.
The Packers' 11-game losing streak to the Bears was finally snapped when Santos made a historic kick, securing a victory for the Bears in the NFC North division.
With 54 seconds remaining in the game, Green Bay's Brandon McManus made a 55-yard field goal to take a 22-21 lead.
With one timeout left, Caleb Williams and the Bears’ offense aimed to gain the necessary yardage for Santos to kick a field goal. However, the drive began poorly as Williams was sacked. A costly penalty turned the tide.
The horse collar tackle resulted in a 15-yard swing, bringing Chicago to the 35-yard line instead of their own 13. The following play saw Williams and Rome Odunze connect, placing the Bears at midfield with 40 seconds remaining.
On the 46-yard line of Green Bay, Williams passed D.J. Moore for 12 yards, but an illegal shift was called, which would have given the Bears enough yards for Santos.
With 15 seconds remaining and no timeouts left, Williams dropped back and found Moore in the middle of the field for an 18-yard pickup. Chicago rushed to the line of scrimmage and spiked the ball, giving Santos the chance to win it with two seconds left.
At Lambeau Field, the kick was hit with the right distance and trajectory, resulting in celebrations.
The Packers, who were already in the playoffs, lost their game and were dropped to the No. 7 seed in the NFC. As a result, they have to go to Philadelphia to face the No. 2 Eagles instead of going to Los Angeles to face the No. 3 Rams.
In the box score, Williams hit 21 out of 29 pitches for 148 yards, including a touchdown pass to Moore, who caught nine times for 86 yards. D'Andre Swift also scored a touchdown on one of his 20 rushes for 65 yards.
The Bears had one of the league's best trick plays of the season when Josh Blackwell ran back a 94-yard punt for the game's first touchdown, leaving the Packers thinking a second Bears punt returner would catch it.
In the Packers game, Jordan Love was substituted with an elbow injury and Malik Willis took over, going 10-of-13 for 136 yards. Josh Jacobs also scored a touchdown for Green Bay this season.
