The North Carolina football GM affirms that Bill Belichick will remain at the school and asserts that the NFL can become excessively political.

Michael Lombardi reiterated his stance that Bill Belichick has no plans to leave the North Carolina Tar Heels football program for the NFL.
Belichick was reportedly considering several NFL job openings following his departure from the Patriots to take up a coaching position at North Carolina.
Belichick, who joined Lombardi at the program, had previously stated that he would not be leaving the Tar Heels. He reiterated this claim in an interview on Monday on OutKick's "The Ricky Cobb Show."
"One thing everyone can agree on, whether you're a fan of Bill's performance in New England or not, is that Bill is very smart. Bill has a deep understanding of the NFL landscape and would not have left New England for North Carolina if there was a more appealing job opportunity.
"He wasn't actively seeking employment, nor was he receiving unemployment benefits. He wasn't hoping to be hired by someone else. Instead, he knew there were great opportunities in the NFL if he wanted to pursue a career in it. However, we also knew that the NFL is a complex and political environment, with many different people to answer to and agendas within the buildings."
Belichick wouldn't return to the NFL because he doesn't want to go back to the NFL.
Bill Walsh once told me in 1984, when there were 28 teams in the National Football League, that they were only competing against eight teams. This statement holds true today, and I believe it highlights the reason why Bill is at North Carolina. Not all teams are built to win.
"While not all teams are striving for the Super Bowl, not all teams desire to achieve it. They prefer to succeed on their own terms, rather than the "right" way. This is why North Carolina was so attractive to him, as we can construct a program here in the proper manner."
Jordon Hudson, Belichick's girlfriend, stated that the 72-year-old head coach would remain with Carolina blue.
"Two people are clearly devoted to @uncfootball, as shown in this Instagram photo," she wrote as the caption.
In recent weeks, Belichick has been actively recruiting and secured a top defensive transfer.
