The NBA fined Anthony Edwards of the Timberwolves for the fifth time this season.
Edward's season fines now amount to $285,000 with the latest penalty.
Despite being one of the highest paid players in the NBA, Anthony Edwards is facing another financial challenge.
The NBA fined the Minnesota Timberwolves star $50,000 for making obscene gestures towards a referee, bringing his season fine total to $285,000.
This season, he has received five penalties for various behavioral violations, primarily due to inappropriate language.
In 2022-23, Edwards, the top pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, signed a five-year rookie extension. After earning All-NBA honors in the following year, the total value of his contract increased to $224 million over a five-year period.
The league announced the punishment for Edwards' conduct with 1:26 left in the third quarter of the 127-125 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday.
In his fifth season, Edwards, a two-time All-Star, was subbed out with 2:25 remaining in the period. While on the bench, he received his ninth technical foul of the season, which led the NBA.
In December, he was fined $200,000 for profanity in various interviews and an obscene gesture on the court in November.
The T'Wolves entered Monday night's game against the Washington Wizards with a 20-18 record and sat in the eighth spot in the Western Conference standings.
