The first playoff game for the Lions will have their key offensive weapon available, according to the head coach.
Since Week 15, Montgomery has been sidelined with an MCL injury.
In the NFL playoffs, "Sonic" and "Knuckles" appear to be teaming up.
On Tuesday, Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell stated that he anticipates David Montgomery's participation in the team's divisional round playoff game in the backfield.
As the No. 1 seed in the NFC, the Lions receive a bye and will host the lowest seed of the wild-card round winners, which could be the Los Angeles Rams, Minnesota Vikings, Washington Commanders, or Green Bay Packers.
The Lions, who have been plagued by injuries throughout the season, suffered another blow with Montgomery's MCL injury in Week 15.
Montgomery opted for alternative treatments to surgery for his knee injury, which allowed him to play in the playoffs.
This season, the Lions' offense has profited from utilizing both Montgomery and Gibbs, with Montgomery amassing 775 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns while also accumulating 341 receiving yards.
The Lions, despite being without star edge rusher Aidan Hutchinson, who is out for the rest of the season, will still take all the healthy players they can get, especially one who has had a significant offensive impact.
