Tennis player Frances Tiafoe talks about his wild outings with Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce.
Tiafoe has reached the semifinals of the U.S. Open twice.
Like any other person, Frances Tiafoe, one of the top-ranked American tennis pros, gets a little starstruck.
In a recent interview on "The Pivot" podcast, the 2024 U.S. Open semifinalist discussed his success and the attention he received as a result, including recognition from other celebrities and athletes.
"Tiafoe admitted that he is a "Beyoncé guy" and has said it in real time, like, "Yo, I'm out here taking shots with Taylor Swift.""
"Currently, I'm thinking, "Wow, she's the biggest star in the spotlight.""
In the 2022 U.S. Open, Tiafoe, 26, defeated legendary tennis pro Rafael Nadal in the fourth round, advancing him to the quarterfinals and making him the youngest American man at 24 to reach the quarters since Andy Roddick did so in 2006.
However, shots with Swift is only the tip of the iceberg.
"Trav and Mahomes are like saying, 'You gotta come to Kansas City, dude!' It's wild to me, but they rolled out the red carpet for me. It's crazy because playing tennis and reaching so many people, people want to meet me and hang out and do stuff, that's why I do it."
Although Tiafoe enjoys the company of celebrities, he also finds joy in his relatability to fans.
"Many individuals recognize themselves in you... I'm simply an average guy from Maryland who enjoys playing tennis."
Tiafoe did not reveal the specific dates of his hangouts with Swift, Kelce, and Mahomes, but the Kansas City Chiefs duo were present at the 2024 U.S. Open for the men's singles final between American Taylor Fritz and Jannik Sinner.
