San Francisco was described as 'not beautiful' by Barkley.
Charles Barkley made it clear that he had no plans to attend the NBA All-Star Game in San Francisco.
Cade Cunningham, the young star of the Detroit Pistons, was discussed on TNT's "Inside the NBA" by Barkley. Although the Golden State Warriors will host the game at the Oracle Arena in San Francisco, Barkley stated that Cunningham will not be present.
"Barkley stated that he will make the All-Star Team, but he won't be attending the event in San Francisco due to its rat-infested nature."
Barkley responded to one of his colleagues calling San Francisco "beautiful."
"San Francisco is not a beautiful city, and I won't be swayed by the presence of rats, cats, or anyone else."
Barkley had previously criticized San Francisco during the NBA's alternative broadcast of the All-Star Game in Indianapolis last year.
Miller was asked by Barkley which he would prefer: spending his entire 18-year NBA career in the cold in Indianapolis or being surrounded by homeless criminals in San Francisco.
Draymond Green of the Warriors labeled Barkley as "crazy" and stated that he was not welcome in the city. Meanwhile, Candace Parker of the WNBA expressed her love for San Francisco, but Barkley responded with a counterargument.
"We don't," he said. "You can't even walk around down there."
Green was emphatic with his pushback.
"Yes you can walk around," he said.
Barkley clapped back saying, "Yeah, with a bulletproof vest."
San Francisco's new mayor, Daniel Lurie, has pledged to improve street safety, increase affordable housing, and address the city's drug and behavioral health issues.
