To defeat the Ohio State Buckeyes and win their first national championship since 1988, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish will have to dig deep.

The Fighting Irish were led by Leonard on a 18-play, 75-yard drive that consumed the first 9:45 of the game, culminating in a Leonard rushing touchdown from 1 yard out.

Leonard, after scoring, pointed to his arm band that read "Matthew 23:12," which says, "Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted."

Matthew 23:12 was one of Leonard's favorite quotes in the Bible.

"Through the highs and lows, I can provide you with a unique perspective," he stated earlier in the season, as reported by Sports Spectrum. "People often try to put me on a pedestal, but my faith helps bring me back down to earth," he added.

"I have experienced both the highs and lows of fame and injury, but my faith has always brought me back to a humble position. Regardless of my success or struggles, God treats me equally."

Notre Dame was 2-for-2 on fourth down during the drive.
