Reports indicate that Deion Sanders and Jerry Jones have discussed the Cowboys' head coaching job.
Jackson State and Colorado have been coached by Sanders in college football.
On Monday night, there were rumors that Deion Sanders could become the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys.
According to FOX Sports, Jerry Jones, the owner of the Cowboys, has discussed with Sanders the possibility of Coach Prime transitioning from college to the NFL, with talks expected to continue as Dallas searches for a new head coach.
The Cowboys job has piqued Sanders' interest, while Dallas is also considering the possibility of signing him.
"Sanders found it delightful to hear from Jerry Jones and found it intriguing to think about it after the call. Despite this, he still loves Boulder and the team."
Although Sanders had previously been reluctant to discuss leaving the Colorado Buffaloes for the NFL, he recently presented an ultimatum: he would only consider an NFL job if he could coach his sons.
It may be challenging for the Cowboys to choose quarterback Shedeur Sanders in the first round. Sanders is predicted to be among the first few players selected. Dallas holds the No. 12 pick in the draft and would need to make a significant trade to move up the board. The Cowboys could potentially select Shilo Sanders at a later stage in the draft.
Deion Sanders played for the Cowboys from 1995 to 1999 and was a part of their last Super Bowl run in 1995. He was a Pro Bowler in four of those five seasons.
The Cowboys parted ways with Mike McCarthy earlier Monday after five seasons.
Mike McCarthy has been highly praised by Jones during his time as head coach. The statement includes compliments on the team's record, unity, culture, qualifications, track record, and personal character.
"Mike has led the team through challenging times and I respect him greatly."
