Report suggests that Indiana quarterback Kurtis Rourke played the entire season with a torn ACL.
In 2022, Rourke suffered an ACL injury, and then another one in August.
Kurtis Rourke, Indiana's quarterback, had an outstanding season that led the Hoosiers to an 11-2 record and a College Football Playoff berth, marking the program's best season.
The fact that Rourke played through an injury to his ACL, which he was believed to have re-torn in August, makes his play even more remarkable, according to his agent, as reported by NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.
During the 2022 season, Ohio University's Rourke suffered an ACL injury, tearing it for the first time.
Rourke will undergo ACL revision surgery on Wednesday, per his agent.
Rourke suffered both an ACL injury and a thumb injury while playing.
On Oct. 19, during Indiana's 56-7 win over Nebraska, Rourke suffered an injury to his throwing hand when he broke his thumbnail. X-rays later showed that the cause of the broken thumbnail was a fractured bone in his thumb.
Just days after undergoing surgery, Rourke returned to play against Michigan State on Nov. 2 with two screws in his thumb.
According to the IndyStar, Rourke threw four touchdown passes in the Hoosiers’ 47-10 win over the Spartans while wearing a splint under his glove.
Rourke finished ninth in Heisman voting despite suffering knee and thumb injuries while playing.
Despite throwing only five interceptions, the Hoosiers quarterback managed to complete 69.4% of his passes, resulting in 3042 yards and 29 touchdowns.
Ohio was where Rourke spent the first five seasons of his college career before transferring to Indiana ahead of the 2024 season.
Notre Dame defeated Indiana in the first round of the College Football Playoffs, ending Indiana's impressive season.
Rourke will be entering the NFL Draft.
