Report suggests that Carson Beck, a star player from Georgia, is considering exploring the transfer portal.
The 2025 NFL Draft was previously declared by Beck.
Despite indications that Carson Beck might depart Georgia for the NFL, it appears his time in college football may not have ended yet.
On Thursday, On3 reported that Beck is expected to enter the transfer portal. A player of Beck's caliber could draw a considerable amount of interest. If he ultimately makes the switch to another college football program, Beck is projected to be one of the highest-paid transfers in the sport's history.
Less than two weeks after declaring for the 2025 NFL Draft, Beck made a new decision.
The native of Jacksonville, Florida, was a member of the Bulldogs' national championship-winning teams in 2021 and 2022.
In 2023, he was named Georgia's starting quarterback and returned to Athens for the 2024 campaign. However, he suffered a season-ending elbow injury during Georgia's overtime win over Texas in the SEC Championship. More recently, Gunner Stockton stepped in for him during Georgia's 23-10 loss to Notre Dame in the College Football Playoff quarterfinal.
Entering the 2024 season, Beck was widely projected as a first round NFL Draft selection, having been a highly touted prospect coming out of high school.
Beck had an uneven season, finishing the campaign with 28 touchdowns against 12 interceptions. He threw for just under 3,500 yards on the year, but also threw three interceptions in three different games. If Beck leaves Georgia, he will finish his time in a Bulldogs uniform with 7,912 passing yards and 58 touchdowns.
ESPN reported that the Miami Hurricanes are the early favorite to sign Beck, who has one year of college eligibility left.
Beck's injury may prevent him from demonstrating his throwing skills to NFL decision-makers during spring workouts, which could have influenced his decision to explore other college programs through the portal.
