Report reveals the cause of death for former Orioles pitcher Brian Matusz.
Several seasons were pitched by Matusz in MLB.
According to the Phoenix police report, the former Baltimore Orioles player was discovered dead in his home by his mother with a white substance in his mouth and drug paraphernalia nearby.
Elizabeth, Matusz's mother, informed authorities that the ex-athlete was grappling with drug problems and had made statements such as "nothing is left for me" and "I used to have it all."
According to the Baltimore Banner, she informed the police that he had been clean for eight months prior to his death. Two days before his demise, on January 4th, Matusz was rushed to the emergency room due to unknown reasons. He was discharged that day and advised to seek a mental health professional. However, he was not admitted to a facility.
He died on Jan. 6.
