Report: Mike Vrabel in talks to become the next Patriots head coach.
In six seasons with the Titans, Vrabel had a record of 54-45. He led the team to the playoffs on three occasions.
According to The Boston Globe, the New England Patriots are in discussions about hiring Mike Vrabel as their next head coach.
After the firing of former head coach Jerod Mayo on Sunday, Vrabel is the leading candidate for the job.
Vrabel, a Patriots' Hall of Fame member, played eight seasons with the team and won three Super Bowls with Tom Brady and Bill Belichick from 2001-08.
From 2018 to 2023, Vrabel served as head coach of the Tennessee Titans for six seasons, leading the team to three playoff appearances and one AFC title game.
After being fired by the Titans following the 2023 season, Vrabel took on a part-time role as a coaching and personnel consultant with the Cleveland Browns in 2024.
In 2025, Vrabel was predicted to be a top contender for head coaching positions. He has also interviewed with the Jets and the Bears.
Ben Johnson, Byron Leftwich, and Pep Hamilton have also been interviewed for the Patriots' head coach opening.
In the mid-1990s, Vrabel was an All-American while playing for the Ohio State Buckeyes, who hailed from Ohio.
In his final professional season, Vrabel recorded 769 tackles, 57 sacks, and 11 interceptions, earning him All-Pro recognition with the New England Patriots.
In the past two seasons, the Patriots have had a record of 8-26 with Belichick and Mayo as their head coaches.
