Rep. Seth Moulton faces calls to resign after speaking out against trans athletes, accusing him of 'betrayal'.

Not only Moulton, but other Democrats also hold this belief.

In the past day, Massachusetts Democratic Congressman Seth Moulton faced criticism from his own party members after expressing his opposition to the left's stance on transgender athletes in girls and women's sports.

In an interview with The New York Times, Moulton discussed his stance on the issue, drawing on his role as a father to two daughters.

""As a Democrat, I'm afraid to say that I don't want my two little girls getting run over on a playing field by a male or formerly male athlete, even though it's a valid concern," he said."

Moulton doubled down on the stance in a statement released Friday evening.

He believes that competitive women's sports should limit the participation of those with physical advantages due to being born male, while also supporting the civil rights of all Americans, including transgender rights.

I will always fight for the rights and safety of all citizens. While these two ideas may not always align, we can still have differing opinions on them. However, some individuals on the far left of social media believe I have not met the unspoken standards of the Democratic Party.

"We did not lose the 2024 election due to any trans person or issue. Instead, we lost because we belittled and shamed too many voters' opinions, which needs to stop. Now, let's have debates to develop a new strategy for our party since our current one failed, and then unite to oppose the Trump agenda wherever it threatens American values."

Many of Moulton's Democratic allies have criticized him harshly.

In a post on X, Massachusetts state Rep. Manny Cruz stated that Moulton's stance was a "betrayal."

Congressman Moulton, your dedication to protecting the LGBTQ community and advocating for their rights has been unwavering. However, your recent actions have betrayed your commitment by scapegoating transgender youth in sports for the failures of the national Democratic Party and leaders to win the presidential election. You pledged to stand with Nagly and the entire community against all forms of bigotry, discrimination, bullying, and harassment.

Another Democrat, Salem city Councilor Kyle Davis, called for Moulton to resign.

In a post on X, Davis stated that he was not seeking an apology from Moulton, but rather a resignation.

Massachusetts state Sen. Jamie Eldridge criticized Moulton in a post on X and advised other Democrats in his state not to follow Moulton's lead.

"We must not forsake our principles," Eldridge stated in a message to his fellow Massachusetts Democrats.

In the recent election cycle, Moulton is not the only Democrat who has distanced themselves from supporting biological males in women's and girls sports. New York Democratic U.S. Rep. Tom Suozzi also expressed opposition to this issue in the same New York Times article where Moulton was cited.

The Democrats must cease catering to the far-left," Suozzi stated. "I do not wish to discriminate against anyone, but I believe biological boys should not participate in girls' sports.

"Democrats aren’t saying that, and they should be."

In the weeks leading up to Election Day, Democrats who had previously supported transgender inclusion in women's sports have publicly denounced their stance on the issue. This group includes Texas Rep. Colin Allred, Texas Rep. Vicente Gonzalez, and Alaska Rep. Mary Peltola.

Ohio Senator Sherrod Brown denied any support for allowing biological males in women's sports.

In a campaign ad released in October, Brown boasted that this has already been banned in Ohio.

Some in the party have continued to advocate for transgender inclusion and the right of transgender athletes to compete against biological females.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a Democratic congresswoman, criticized the Green Party's presidential ticket after their vice presidential nominee, Butch Ware, voiced opposition to transgender athletes competing in women's sports.

"Biological males should not participate in female sports, according to Ware, as it provides an unfair competitive advantage."

Ocasio-Cortez responded to the video, labeling the ticket "predatory."

In April, the Biden-Harris administration issued a rule clarifying that Title IX's prohibition of "sex" discrimination in schools extends to discrimination based on gender identity, sexual orientation, and pregnancy or related conditions. Despite the administration's assertion that the regulation does not pertain to athletic eligibility, several experts have presented evidence to Planet Chronicle Digital in June that it will ultimately result in more biological men competing in women's sports.

Ocasio-Cortez contended that the reform did not adequately support transgender individuals, particularly transgender athletes seeking to participate in female sports.

There is no justification for the Biden administration to implement this policy. It is unacceptable and shameful. The administration has the opportunity to reverse this decision and they should do so immediately. This is a disgrace.

Democrats have proposed and co-sponsored bills like the Equality Act and a Transgender Bill of Rights to facilitate transgender inclusion in women's sports at a national level.

Trump has proposed a federal ban on transgender participation in women's and girls sports.

In June, a survey by NORC at the University of Chicago asked respondents whether transgender athletes should be allowed to compete in sports leagues that match their preferred gender identity rather than their biological sex.

Sixty-five percent of respondents said that adult transgender female athletes should never or rarely be allowed to compete on women's sports teams. When asked specifically about this issue, 69% of those polled opposed it.

Nearly 900 biological females have been denied medals in sports due to being beaten out by transgender athletes, according to a study released by the United Nations.

Over 890 medals were awarded to more than 600 athletes who did not medal in over 400 competitions across 29 different sports, according to a study titled "Violence against women and girls in sports."

The report stated that the introduction of a mixed-sex sports category has led to a decline in female athletes' chances of winning medals and opportunities when competing against males.
