Zach Edey, a standout player on the Purdue men's basketball team, won the AP Player of the Year award for the second time before the team's Final Four matchup against N.C. State on Saturday night.

Edey believes he could have earned more money this season through name, image, and likeness deals.

Since he hails from Canada, he is not permitted to enter into any NIL deals in the U.S. Any NIL deals he receives must be in Canada or during international travel.

The 7-foot-4 center stated on Friday that he believes U.S. laws need to be altered due to losing out on a significant amount of money.

Edey, a student at Purdue on a visa, expressed his hope that they would change the situation in the future. He has lost a significant amount of money this year and believes that it is necessary for things to change. Although he understands the legal process and its time-consuming nature, he is determined to see a change.

"While it may not be an NCAA rule, it is an American law. Although it may take time to make any changes, I believe it is necessary."

Earlier in the men's basketball tournament, Ryan Nembhard of Canada, a star player for Gonzaga Bulldogs, stated that he couldn't earn NIL money due to his status.

Luka Krajnovic from Croatia, a teammate of Nembhard, also expressed a desire for change.

The struggle for internationals playing in the states has been a challenge, but it will likely resolve itself with the efforts of many people. Currently, my focus is solely on basketball, and I don't let that issue concern me.

Will Berg, a 7-foot-2 boilermaker from Sweden, is also facing the same challenges as Edey.
