Pam Shriver, a renowned tennis player, discloses her Grand Slam trophies and a stolen car following evacuation from wildfires.
Shriver was relocated from her residence to a hotel in Marina Del Ray.
On Saturday, Pam Shriver, a former tennis star, disclosed that she lost her Grand Slam trophies and her car after evacuating her home due to the wildfires in Los Angeles.
Shriver, who evacuated from Brentwood to a hotel in Marina Del Ray during the Palisades Fire two weeks ago, shared her grim outlook on the city amidst the chaos that has occurred.
"In LA, it's challenging to feel secure due to natural disasters, fires, and crime. After spending 38 years in Baltimore and 30 years here, I'm contemplating my next community where I can feel safe."
On Friday, KTLA reported that Shriver stated she was attempting to return to a regular schedule when she discovered her Dodge Durango was absent.
She said the trophies happened to be in the back of the SUV.
Come on, man," she said to the station. "We must come together and act like the first responders and donors we see pushing through this crisis. Let's feel a sense of community and help the people of Altadena and Pacific Palisades. It's time to do the right thing.
"It's not the right moment to add more anxiety, concern, and self-doubt to individuals."
At least a dozen people have been arrested for looting and arson as firefighters work to contain the infernos.
Gavin Newsom, the Governor of California, has made looting in fire evacuation zones a felony following the recommendation of harsher penalties by Southern California prosecutors, as reported by Planet Chronicle Digital.
"These criminals are among the worst kinds because they prey on people at their most vulnerable," Newsom stated in a Planet Chronicle Digital statement on Thursday afternoon.
The governor stated that looting is not legal in the state and will not be tolerated as the state continues to fight the ongoing wildfire that began on January 7th.
Jamie Joseph contributed to this report.
