Ohio State fans storm Ohio Stadium to commemorate their first national championship in six years.
Notre Dame lost to Ohio State in a 34-23 game, resulting in Ohio State winning its sixth national title.
Ohio State fans celebrated their first national championship in over a decade by storming the field.
Instead of celebrating with Ohio State on the field at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Buckeyes fans celebrated their championship victory by breaking into their own stadium in Columbus, Ohio.
The Columbus Dispatch shared a video of a large crowd of fans rushing around campus following Ohio State's 34-23 victory over Notre Dame. The outlet reported that the crowd erupted into "The Shoe" just after midnight.
Thomas Schmansky, a freshman, told the outlet that it was surreal to see the students making their way onto the field at Ohio Stadium.
A student who spoke to the paper described the celebration as "crazy" and was surprised by the "supportive" behavior of law enforcement on campus.
The report indicates that the celebrations started to wind down at approximately 12:20 a.m. ET.
After losing at home to Michigan during the regular season, Ohio State won its sixth national title, raising doubts about the team's playoff prospects and the future of head coach Ryan Day.
"The story is about a group of men who overcame difficult circumstances and, despite being counted out by many, continued to persevere and fight on," Day stated after the game.
On Monday night, the Buckeyes ended the 2024 season on a high note, despite their fourth straight loss to rival Michigan and the lows of the season.
