North Carolina college football fans cheered for JD Vance and his wife Usha.
Trump has suggested attending the Ohio State-Michigan game with Vance later this year.
On Saturday, JD Vance, the Republican vice presidential candidate, and his wife Usha, traveled to Greenville, North Carolina, and were prepared for the game.
In the afternoon, the couple arrived and went to the well-known college football bar, Sup Dogs.
They were greeted there by a raucous cheer from the bar's customers.
The couple mingled with locals and East Carolina Pirates football fans before the team's game against Appalachian State on Saturday.
Usha and JD arrived at East Carolina University's Dowdy-Ficklin Stadium, where they were met with more raucous cheers from the fans.
A massive crowd chanted "USA!" as Vance walked through.
Vance and his wife walked out onto the field for the national anthem.
Vance is a college football fan, but not necessarily from North Carolina. As an Ohio native and Ohio State University alum, Vance is a lifelong Buckeyes fan.
Vance previously disclosed that he had informed Trump of the potential impact of his loyalty to the Buckeyes on Trump's chances of winning in Michigan in November, when Trump chose Vance as his running mate.
When he first proposed making me a VP, I responded, 'I hope we don't lose Michigan by 900 votes because you'll regret it. It's probably just a thousand angry Wolverine fans who wouldn't vote for a Buckeye.'
"During an appearance on OutKick's "The Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show," Vance stated that he believes most Michiganders will prioritize putting the country first and setting aside sports rivalries, which is what everyone agrees is the most crucial matter."
Vance suggested that he and Trump attend the Ohio State Buckeyes' game against Michigan on November 30 at Ohio Stadium.
Assuming we win, I can get some great tickets as the VP-elect for the Ohio State-Michigan game, and we'll be in a celebratory mood," Vance said on OutKick. "This year's game is going to be huge.
"The upcoming game between Ohio State and Michigan will likely determine the ultimate seeding in the College Football Playoff. While some people may not be putting Michigan as highly this year, it's always a good program, so we'll see. I'm feeling very good about the Buckeyes and the Bengals."
