The Saints and Pelicans announced that one of the individuals killed in the New Year's Day terrorist attack was an employee of theirs, as the New Orleans community continues to mourn the losses.

The Saints' statement expressed their grief over the tragic events that resulted in the loss of innocent lives in their city yesterday morning. Among the casualties was Matthew Tenedorio, a talented member of the ASM New Orleans video production team, who had a bright future ahead of him.

"We express our deepest sympathies to the Tenedorio family and all those affected by this senseless act of terrorism. As a city, state, and region, we will unite and recover from this tragedy."

On New Orleans' Bourbon Street, a truck was driven through a crowd by Shamsud-Din Jabbar, resulting in the deaths of over a dozen people and injuries to many more. Officials classified the incident as a terrorist attack.

The postponement of the Sugar Bowl, a College Football Playoff quarterfinal matchup between Georgia and Notre Dame at the Caesars Superdome, was caused by the attack.

The game, originally slated for Wednesday night, was rescheduled for Thursday afternoon.

Before the game on Thursday, Bourbon Street was opened by authorities, with Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry expected to attend.

"The Superdome is completely secure and the FBI continues to pour resources into the state," Landry said during an appearance on "Fox & Friends."

Notre Dame head football coach Marcus Freeman addressed his team about the senseless act of violence that occurred.

During an ESPN appearance, he stated that the initial portion of the meeting was dedicated to expressing grief and offering prayers for our nation.

"The toughest moments reveal the culture of a program or nation. I believe we will unite and assist the victims and families affected in New Orleans."

SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey also posted on social media platform X.

The New Orleans tragedy on New Year's Day left us in a state of shock and grief, as Sankey expressed.

"We are thankful for the efforts of numerous individuals to modify and adapt to enable a football game between @GeorgiaFootball and @NDFootball."
