MLB indefinitely bans Yankees fans who interfered with Mookie Betts during the World Series, according to a report.
Betts confessed that he desired to confront the fans.
The New York Yankees fans who caught Mookie Betts' ball after grabbing his wrists won't see their team or any other for a long time.
According to reports, Austin Capobianco and John P. Hansen were indefinitely banned from all MLB stadiums due to the incident.
In the first inning of Game 4 of the World Series, with the Yanks trailing three games to none, Gleyber Torres hit a pop fly down the right field line that was heading towards the stands. Betts jumped for the ball and made the catch, but he seemed to be in a risky position.
In the front row, a Yankee fan attempted to remove Betts' glove from his hand and retrieve the ball, while another fan restrained Betts' wrists until the ball was eventually released.
The team reversed course and donated the tickets to a child with cancer and his family after initially allowing fans to return the following night.
After Game 5, the Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder spoke about the ordeal.
"Betts won his third World Series title and described the experience as wild. He had never experienced anything like it before and told his wife it was like the second time in his life he wanted to fight someone. Betts understood the situation and said that he didn't know what the other player was trying to do, but he had to do what he had to do."
Capobianco defended his actions, saying it was to help the Yankees.
"Capobianco told ESPN that we always make fun of the ball in our neighborhood. We don't intend to attack, but if it's in our area, we'll defend it."
The season ticket holder since 1990 has been granted permission to retain the seats for the fans.
