Millions of dollars donated by NFL and teams to aid wildfire victims in the Los Angeles region.
California wildfire relief efforts are being supported by the Vikings and Rams with a combined contribution of $1 million.
The NFL has pledged to contribute $5 million towards wildfire relief efforts in Southern California, where fires are still raging.
The NFL announced on Friday that funds led by individual contributions from clubs and ownership groups from the Los Angeles Chargers, Los Angeles Rams, Minnesota Vikings, Houston Texans and NFL Foundation will be used to provide vital resources to local organizations supporting those affected by the wildfires.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell expressed his heartbreak over the devastating losses in the Los Angeles area and admiration for the heroism of first responders and residents who have supported their neighbors.
"The NFL family is dedicated to collaborating with the Los Angeles Chargers and Los Angeles Rams to aid their communities during challenging times."
Over 27,000 acres have been burned by the Palisades Fire, Eaton Fire, Kenneth Fire, Hurst Fire, and Lidia Fire in the Los Angeles area as of Friday morning, officials confirmed.
The Wilf Family Foundation, owned by brothers Zygi and Mark Wilf and cousin Leonard Wilf, donated $1 million for relief efforts.
The Vikings and the Wilf Family Foundations are contributing $1 million to support relief efforts in communities affected by the California wildfires, according to their statement.
The Houston Texans made a $1 million donation to assist those affected by the wildfires.
The NFC wild-card round game between the Rams and Vikings, originally scheduled to take place at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, has been relocated to State Farm Stadium in Arizona due to ongoing wildfires in the region.
A fire occurred near the Rams' training complex in Woodland Hills, California, on Thursday, causing smoke to be visible from the team's practice field. The Rams and Chargers are set to play playoff games this weekend, and both teams practiced outdoors on Thursday. Some Chargers players chose to wear masks during the practice.
On Friday afternoon, ESPN reported that the Cardinals dispatched one of their Boeing 777 planes to Los Angeles to transport Rams players, staff, their families, and some pets to Arizona. Additionally, the Cardinals are providing their practice complex to the Rams, as per ESPN's Adam Schefter.
The Los Angeles Chargers announced on Wednesday that they will give $200,000 in targeted funding to various organizations, including the American Red Cross, LA Fire Department Foundation, Team Rubicon, and pet rescue groups, to help animals displaced by wildfires.
The American Red Cross' California Wildfire relief efforts have received a $1 million donation from FOX Corporation, which will assist the agency in offering safe shelter, hot meals, emotional support, and resources to aid in recovery in the region.
