Mike McCarthy's departure from the Cowboys has left Dak Prescott feeling uncertain about the team's future.
Mike McCarthy's dismissal as head coach of the Dallas Cowboys has left quarterback Dak Prescott unhappy.
"I suppose they couldn't agree. Tsk."
Although McCarthy achieved success during the regular season, he only managed one playoff victory in five years with Dallas.
Prescott spoke in December about his belief in McCarthy.
"Prescott told Yahoo Sports that he feels helpless in trying to help his coach, who seems to be playing on his last contract, especially since he is someone he believes in so much and wants to be his head coach. He advised controlling what he can control and supporting Mike to the best of his ability."
Prescott only played in eight games due to season-ending surgery on his hamstring.
Prescott stated, "I wholeheartedly believe in him and think he deserves another contract and the opportunity to coach this team with more influence. On his terms, he may be the best option."
In his statement about not bringing McCarthy back, Jerry Jones praised McCarthy.
During Mike McCarthy's time as head coach, I have consistently praised his performance.
McCarthy's departure from the team was due to a joint review, as cited by Jones.
"In the past week, Mike and I conducted a comprehensive review of the previous season, including our players, staff, and the future direction of the team."
"Before reaching the point of contact negotiations, it became clear that it would be better for each of us to go in different directions."
After the Cowboys hire a new head coach, Prescott will be entering his 10th season with the third head coach of his career.
