Megan Rapinoe criticizes the Democratic Party for not achieving success in certain areas during the election.
In the upcoming months, we must examine that truthfully, as Rapinoe stated.
The election of Donald Trump has caused the Democratic Party to undergo a significant shift, prompting party loyalists to urge elected officials to reconsider their positions before the 2028 election.
Former USWNT soccer player Megan Rapinoe is one of them.
In the latest episode of the "A Touch More" podcast with Sue Bird, the couple discussed their reactions to Vice President Kamala Harris' loss. Rapinoe expressed feeling "overwhelmed" by the possibility of another Trump presidency but emphasized that the loss underscores the need for introspection within the Democratic Party.
"It is clear that the Democratic Party made mistakes, and we must examine them truthfully in the upcoming months, weeks, and years to ensure that our message and party resonate with more people than the opposing party, which failed to achieve this goal this time."
The debate over transgender inclusion in women's sports has been a hotly contested issue following the election.
Seth Moulton, a Massachusetts Democratic representative, has faced criticism for his remarks opposing the left's views, leading to calls for his resignation.
"Democrats prioritize political correctness over honesty about the struggles faced by many Americans, even when it comes to protecting their own children," he stated in an interview with The New York Times.
He believes that competitive women's sports should limit the participation of those with physical advantages due to being born male, while also supporting the civil rights of all Americans, including transgender rights.
"I will always fight for the rights and safety of all citizens. While these two ideas may not be mutually exclusive, some individuals on the extreme left may disagree with me. Despite this, there are many who believe I have failed the unspoken Democratic Party purity test."
Rapinoe did not specify which areas the Dems fell short on, but she voiced her worry about the transgender community under Trump's administration.
I believe that fear is not limited to me personally, as we live in progressive places. We are incredibly fortunate in our position in the world, life, and financially. However, I am concerned about the impact of fear on others, particularly my trans friends, acquaintances, and children.
"I am considering the possibility of mass deportations and the resulting chaos is overwhelming."
