LSU football player Colin Hurley sustains injuries in a car accident on campus, according to police reports.
Early Thursday morning, LSU police discovered Hurley to be unresponsive but still breathing.
Early Thursday morning, a police report stated that Colin Hurley, a freshman quarterback at LSU, sustained injuries in an on-campus car crash.
Near the gates at one of LSU's campus entrances, an unresponsive but breathing 17-year-old named Hurley was discovered by the Baton Rouge Fire Department and LSU police shortly before 3 a.m., according to the report.
It is reported that Hurley was driving a Dodge Charger and crashed into a tree on South Quad Drive and Highland Road.
Jacksonville, Florida is where Hurley hails from. He did not participate in any action during his first year at college.
On Thursday, Colin's family issued a statement expressing gratitude to medical professionals and LSU football supporters for their ongoing support of the player during his recovery process.
"Colin expresses gratitude to the first responders, doctors, and nurses at Our Lady of the Lake Health, as well as the Tiger Fans, for their care and compassion. Colin is currently stable and undergoing further tests and treatment. We remain optimistic that he will fully recover from this unfortunate accident."
Officials stated that the cause of the crash was not immediately known, but impairment was not believed to have played a role. University officials declined to provide additional information on the matter since Hurley is a minor.
