Notification of special offer was sent to season ticket holders via email by the Vikings.
The league office informed the Lions that the Vikings weren't breaking any rules after the Lions complained about them.
The upcoming game between the two longtime Super Bowl rivals, both with 14-2 records, is significant because neither team has won a championship.
The Vikings have lost all four Super Bowl appearances, while Detroit has never played in one.
The Super Bowl will be the clearest path for the winner of this NFC game.
The Lions won the earlier matchup this season in Minnesota, a tight 31-29 thriller, to maintain their first-place position in the NFC North. As a result of this victory, the Lions would secure the NFC's top seed with a tie against the Vikings on Sunday night.
Since January 2021, the Vikings have not won a game against the Lions at Ford Field, with their last victory occurring in the final week of the 2020 season, a 37-35 win that ended their season at 7-9. Minnesota finished 5-11.
Despite being in a rebuilding phase, the Vikings stunned the NFL with the emergence of quarterback Sam Darnold, who led them to a surprising playoff appearance.
If the team that loses on Sunday is relegated, they will be the top wild-card team and will have to play in the first round of the playoffs away from home.
The NFC Championship game will have the winner receive a first-round bye and home-field advantage in the divisional round.
