Jason Kelce was defended by brother Travis for spying on a fan's phone after a homophobic slur.
Travis Kelce recounts an encounter with an irritating individual who discussed his family.
Travis Kelce has come to his brother's defense.
As Jason Kelce entered Beaver Stadium, a fan inquired about how it felt that his brother, Travis, was dating Taylor Swift.
The fan's phone was snatched by Jason and spiked onto the street.
Jason repeatedly said, "Who's the f----t now" after approaching the fan.
"I understand how much it's weighing on you, brother, that sucks," Travis said on the brothers' "New Heights" podcast. "You shouldn't feel this much scrutiny and media view on it, obviously, with everyone passing around the videos that are out there."
"You had a clown approach you and discuss your family, which led to a defensive reaction. You may have used regrettable words, but this situation requires learning and taking responsibility. Your acknowledgment and discussion of it demonstrate your sincerity to many people."
Jason did say he regretted using the slur as retaliation.
Kelce stated on ESPN on Monday that he believes everyone has seen on social media everything that happened this week. However, he expressed his dissatisfaction with the events that transpired and stated that he was not proud of them. In a heated moment, he chose to respond to hate with hate, which he believes is not a productive approach. He believes that it does not lead to discourse and is not the best way to handle situations. Kelce acknowledged that he made a mistake and should not have reacted the way he did.
"I strive to live my life by the golden rule, which involves treating people with common decency and respect. Despite falling short this week, I will continue to do so in the future."
The Nittany Lions' game against Ohio State on Saturday was preceded by an incident that is currently being investigated by Penn State police.
