Jason Kelce and Jalen Hurts exchange emotional words: "I love you"
Since Kelce was drafted by the Eagles in 2020, he has always had a loved one in his corner.
Although Jason Kelce no longer snaps footballs to Jalen Hurts, the two former Philadelphia Eagles teammates still share a lot of affection for each other.
Kelce, a member of the ESPN "Monday Night Countdown" team, interviewed Hurts in a heartfelt conversation during the Eagles-Atlanta Falcons matchup in Philly.
Hurts was promptly questioned by Kelce during the one-on-one interview, "Do you miss me?"
""I miss you too," he replied, smiling, as Kelce celebrated."
Kelce's absence has caused Hurts' pain to deepen, as he admires the center's contributions to his success as a rookie in 2020.
What I admired most about you was your ability to handle a lot of responsibilities while still putting others first. Despite having a lot on your plate, you always went above and beyond to help those around you. That selflessness is something I will always respect, as it is the essence of being in a leadership role - setting the table and making sure everyone has what they need.
"The underdog mentality, the underdog story, all of it."
Hurts responded to Kelce's acknowledgement by saying, "I love you."
"I love you, too," Kelce said back to Hurts.
Saquon Barkley's acclimation to his new city and teammates was discussed by Kelce, along with the reasons behind the "Tush Push" play's poor performance last week.
The Eagles' quarterback sneak play is a staple, but Kelce, who was in the trenches burying himself into the opposition to allow Hurts to get those critical short yards, told the quarterback that he no longer enjoys shoving himself into a defensive line.
After the interview ended, Kelce and Hurts exchanged a hug and another "I love you" was exchanged between them. However, Kelce had to restrain himself from telling his quarterback to "go dominate."
Kelce said, laughing, "I mean – don’t dominate. I’m independent."
"That's bullshit. We know what time it is," Hurts replied.
It's difficult not to support your former teammates when you recently left the team you played all 13 NFL seasons for and are now in the media business where impartiality is key.
