Jalen Hurts' playoff availability uncertain due to concussion protocol.
After suffering a concussion in Week 16, Hurts has been in protocol for 2 weeks.
The Eagles are aiming for a more extended playoff run than the previous season, having earned the No. 2 spot in the NFC, and will host the No. 7 Packers in the Wild Card Round this weekend.
Despite suffering a concussion two weeks ago during the Eagles' loss to the Washington Commanders, Jalen Hurts, the team's starting quarterback, is still in concussion protocol.
On Monday, head coach Nick Sirianni informed reporters that Hurts' availability for the wild-card game is uncertain, leaving the team concerned about their starting quarterback.
On Sunday at 4:30 p.m. at Lincoln Financial Field, the Eagles will face the Packers, who also held the No. 7 seed last year when they defeated the Cowboys in their own stadium in the wild-card game.
The Eagles are closely monitoring their backup situation while hoping that Hurts can pass the concussion protocol before the weekend game.
In Week 18, Tanner McKee played for the team instead of Kenny Pickett, who was injured and unable to participate in the game against the New York Giants.
Concerns about Hurts' injury status have intensified, as he did not play in Week 17 or 18, leading many to believe he was being cautious after his concussion against the Commanders. However, now there is a growing sense of worry, and his status throughout the week will be closely monitored.
The Packers are facing their own set of injuries, with star wide receiver Christian Watson expected to miss the rest of the year after suffering a torn ACL in Week 18 against the Chicago Bears. Despite this, the Packers had already secured a spot in the playoffs. However, Watson's injury is a significant blow as they prepare to face the Eagles in the playoffs.
Jordan Love, the Packers quarterback, left the game against the Bears in the first half due to an elbow injury. As a precaution, he was also held out, as stated by head coach Matt LaFleur.
This season, Hurts has accounted for 32 Eagles touchdowns, with 18 through the air and 14 on the ground. He has passed for 2,903 yards with a 68.7% completion rate over 15 games. Hurts has gone 12-3 in that span, helping his team earn the NFC East title.
