In the win against the Browns, the Ravens' 355-pound lineman makes a crucial interception to secure the division title.
Before Saturday, Michael Pierce had never recorded an interception in the NFL.
On Saturday, Michael Pierce, a defensive tackle for the Baltimore Ravens, made his first NFL interception to secure a victory against the Cleveland Browns.
The Browns' offense struggled in the red zone, with the Ravens leading 35-10.
Dorian Thompson-Robinson's pass was stopped by Pierce, who put his 355-pound body in front of it. Although he stumbled a bit with the ball, he eventually rolled down to end the play, giving his offense the chance to run the clock out.
The Ravens celebrated their second straight NFC North title when it was over.
The Ravens (12-5) will host the playoffs at home against either the Los Angeles Chargers or Pittsburgh Steelers. Despite being two games behind the Steelers in the division, Baltimore won its final four games to secure the top spot.
Cleveland (3-14) ended a dismal season with six consecutive losses. In the final game, both Bailey Zappe and Thompson-Robinson played quarterback. Despite their efforts, neither was able to move the ball effectively. Zappe had a pass intercepted and returned 26 yards for a touchdown by rookie Nate Wiggins, resulting in the game's first points.
The main worry for the Ravens regarding this game is the well-being of Pro Bowl receiver Zay Flowers, who exited in the second quarter with a right knee injury.
In the second and third quarters, Lamar Jackson of the Ravens threw touchdown passes to Mark Andrews and Rashod Bateman, respectively, ending a remarkable season that could potentially result in his third MVP award.
Jackson ended the season with 4,172 yards passing, 41 touchdown passes, and just four interceptions. He was the first quarterback to achieve 4,000 yards passing with 40 TD passes and four or fewer interceptions.
Jackson ended the season with 915 yards rushing and was the first to achieve both 4,000 yards passing and at least 800 yards rushing. Despite a passer rating of 119.6, he fell short of breaking the single-season record of 122.5 held by Aaron Rodgers.
In the fourth quarter, Zappe threw for 170 yards with two interceptions. He scored a 16-yard touchdown pass to Jordan Akins, making it 21-10. However, the Ravens responded with a 70-yard drive that resulted in a 2-yard touchdown run by Derrick Henry.
Henry, who turned 31 on Saturday, scored a 43-yard run in the fourth quarter, finishing the season with a franchise-record 16 rushing touchdowns and 1,921 yards rushing.
Cleveland has not allowed a 300-yard passer in 28 consecutive games, with Jackson finishing 16 of 32 for 217 yards.
