In an epic video, Florida's 7-foot-9 center confronts Shaq: "Don't pick on someone your own size"
Olivier Rioux opted to defer his freshman year.
In a recent social media video, Shaquille O'Neal may have met his match among basketball players who are taller than him.
On Saturday, O'Neal uploaded a TikTok skit featuring him arguing with a shorter man before turning around to find the 7-foot, 9-inch tall Florida Gators center Olivier Rioux behind him.
"Choose a target who is equal to you in size," O'Neal wrote in the caption.
O'Neal was made to look like a guard instead of a dominating center by Rioux, who was 15-time All-Star and stood at 7-foot-1 during his playing days.
At the time of his commitment to Florida, Rioux was recognized as the tallest teenager in the world, standing at 7 feet, 5 inches. Prior to that, he had held the Guinness World Record for tallest teenager, with a height of 6 feet, 1 inch at age 8, 6 feet, 11 inches by sixth grade, and finally reaching 7 feet during the summer before entering seventh grade.
Since then, Rioux has experienced another growth spurt, adding four inches in the past two years, as reported by Ball Is Life.
Rioux previously stated on Instagram that he wears a size 20 shoe. He mentioned that his older brother is 6 feet, 9 inches; his dad is 6 feet, 8 inches; and his mom is 6 feet, 1 inch. He played high school ball at the IMG Academy and was a three-star prospect.
The Gators have not yet seen the Canadian play in a game, as he opted to redshirt his freshman year.
