Florida declared Jan. 10, 2025, as Mike Evans Day.
Mike Evans, a renowned wide receiver for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, can add another accolade to his impressive record - a holiday named after him.
On Friday, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis declared January 10, 2025, as Mike Evans Day.
DeSantis commended Mike Evans for his unwavering commitment to football, creating cherished moments for fans throughout Florida and beyond.
"Mike Evans was named the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ Walter Payton Man of the Year nominee for the fourth time in his career due to his unwavering dedication to giving back to the Tampa Bay community and enhancing the lives of numerous individuals through his Mike Evans Family Foundation."
DeSantis also listed the many accomplishments Evans has achieved on the field.
Over 105 career receiving touchdowns, Evans has played 168 games, accumulating over 12,684 yards through 830 receptions.
"Evans has been chosen to the Pro Bowl five times and named a second-team All-Pro in 2016 and 2023."
The Florida governor acknowledged the accomplishment of Evans, who achieved his eleventh consecutive 1,000 yard season in the final moments of the Bucs' victory on Sunday.
Evans tied Rice's all-time record with his eleventh consecutive 1,000-yard season.
In the 2014 NFL Draft, the Buccaneers picked Evans with the No. 7 overall selection, and he quickly established himself as a standout player.
Although Evans is content with having his own day, he must consider his playoff matchup.
The Washington Commanders are facing Evans' Bucs in the wild-card round at 8 p.m. ET on Sunday at their home stadium.
