The Sugar Bowl in New Orleans saw an outpouring of patriotism from college football fans on Thursday afternoon.

Prior to the College Football Playoff quarterfinal game between Notre Dame and Georgia at the Caesars Superdome, a moment of silence was observed for those who were killed or injured in the New Orleans terror attack on New Year's Day.

On Bourbon Street in New Orleans, a truck was driven through a crowd, resulting in the deaths of over a dozen people and injuries to many more.

"U-S-A!" chants broke out among the crowd after the moment of silence in the Caesars Superdome.

The national anthem was sung, followed by the display of a large American flag on the turf.

The postponement of the Sugar Bowl, which determines who will play No. 6 Penn State in one semifinal of the College Football Playoff, was caused by a terror attack.

Gov. Jeff Landry attended the opening of Bourbon Street hours before the game on Thursday.

"The Superdome is completely secure and the FBI continues to pour resources into the state," Landry said during an appearance on "Fox & Friends."

Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman addressed his team about the senseless act of violence that occurred.

During an ESPN appearance, he stated that the initial portion of the meeting was dedicated to expressing grief and offering prayers for our nation.

"The toughest moments reveal the culture of a program or nation. I believe we will unite and assist the victims and families affected in New Orleans."
