Eric Bischoff receives a 'one shot' opportunity with MLW and donates his paycheck to Tunnel to Towers.
During his wrestling career, Bischoff was a part of WCW, WWE, and TNA.
Eric Bischoff will return for one night and be even better than before.
The renowned professional wrestler will lead the Major League Wrestling (MLW) One Shot event in New York City on Dec. 5. In an exclusive interview with Planet Chronicle Digital, he stated that he would contribute his entire earnings to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
Bischoff immediately informed Court Bauer, the founder of MLW, that the event was not about money. Bauer attempted to negotiate Bischoff's fee, but Bischoff was not interested in discussing it. Instead, he pledged to donate the entire amount to the Tunnel to Towers organization.
"I don't want to negotiate it; I just want it to be donated because I'm not doing this for the money, but for the fun."
Bischoff will be in charge of the pro wrestling event at the Melrose Ballroom in Queens. Despite discussing a show with Bauer for several years, the timing was never suitable. However, everything changed when the stars aligned.
An actor-turned-MLW wrestler, Paul Walter Hauser, joined Bischoff on his YouTube show "Life Choices." During their discussion, Hauser called Bauer live, which led to the dominoes falling into place.
Several pro wrestlers with exceptional talent have progressed through the company, including Alex Shelley, Austin Aries, Lexis King (formerly Brian Pillman Jr.), Francine, Gangrel, Jacob Fatu, Karrion Kross (formerly Killer Kross), Konnan, Matt Cardona, MJF, and Tajiri, among others.
The roster now includes established talents such as KENTA, Matt Riddle, Satoshi Kojima, Mistico, Minoru Suzuki, Bobby Fish, and The Andersons, among others. Additionally, Donovan Dijak made his debut with the company over the summer after his contract with WWE was not renewed.
Court, a former WWE writer, knows how to tell stories. I like that they're starting from scratch and building their brand.
"I love watching emerging companies, especially in the wrestling business. I'm fascinated by the prospect of MLW growing and reaching the next level."
Bischoff played a pivotal role in shaping the wrestling industry with his creative ideas, most notably the formation of the New World Order faction in WCW, which transformed Hulk Hogan from a hero to a villain and made him part of The Outsiders alongside Kevin Nash and Scott Hall. This move led to a ratings war with WWE, ultimately placing WCW at the top for over a year.
Despite WCW's failure, Bischoff's impact on the wrestling industry remained strong. He joined WWE as the on-air general manager of RAW and also served as an executive producer for TNA.
Bischoff stated to Planet Chronicle Digital that he is relishing the opportunity to re-engage in the creative side of the wrestling industry and is eagerly anticipating the launch of a new show.
He is not looking for a permanent solution.
He stated that he doesn't consider the idea of returning to wrestling unless it is enjoyable for him. He emphasized that if it is not fun, he is not interested.
It depends on the individual. Personally, I am transparent about it, and I can't see it. I like my life just as it is, living in a beautiful part of the country where I can look out my back window and see Yellowstone National Park.
"Committing to professional wrestling is a 24/7 commitment. If you're not actively considering it, you're either thinking about it or worrying about it. If you're not worrying about it, you're probably sleeping. It's hard for me to imagine committing to something that isn't enjoyable. However, if it's successful and everyone involved enjoys the process, anything is possible, but highly unlikely. Let's put it that way."
Over the next few weeks, more matches will be added to the card for One Shot, which already has a few booked.
