Embiid receives a warning from Shaq about the 76ers' championship aspirations.
Against the Knicks, Embiid made his season debut.
On Tuesday night, Joel Embiid, the star player of the Philadelphia 76ers, made his season debut and scored 13 points on 2 of 11 shooting from the field in 26 minutes. Despite his efforts, his team lost 111-99 to the New York Knicks.
Embiid returned to the floor after missing several games due to injuries. The 76ers' decision to bench the center led to an NBA investigation.
Embiid was also suspended three games for an incident with a newspaper columnist.
Wednesday's game against the Cleveland Cavaliers was not possible for him as he had already been disqualified.
Shaquille O’Neal levied heavy criticism at Embiid at halftime Tuesday.
Joel Embiid, the Basketball Hall of Famer, stated that playing against his tough team in New York was challenging. However, he had a fear that Embiid would arrogantly announce that he wasn't playing back-to-backs, wasn't injured but sore, and would return when he wanted.
When you say things like that, you're expected to return with more energy. If you had zero-for-three, you would have been 0-for-15. But you know what people would have said. "Shaq's not playing well, but he's playing aggressively."
"Their plan isn't working, and I respectfully say that Joel Embiid will never win a championship until he fixes his mind and attitude."
Embiid suffered from Bell's palsy during the playoffs last season, but he recovered and played for Team USA in the Paris Olympics, helping it win a gold medal.
Since then, Embiid hadn't played until Tuesday night.
