Elon Musk supports Novak Djokovic in refusing interview with Australian broadcaster over criticism.
Musk urged athletes to bypass the press.
On Sunday, Jiří Lehecka was defeated by Novak Djokovic in the fourth round of the Australian Open, resulting in Djokovic's advancement to the quarterfinals with a straight-set victory.
Djokovic's dominance was overshadowed by his refusal to speak to Australia's Channel 9 due to journalist Tony Jones' remarks about him.
Djokovic stated that he desired an apology from the journalist who works for Channel 9 and made derogatory comments about him and Serbian fans.
Jones called Djokovic overrated and a has-been.
He said he will continue to boycott speaking to the network.
He stated, "I'll leave it to Channel 9 to handle it as they see fit. That's all."
Djokovic left the court after defeating Lehecka and was expected to speak to Jim Courier on television. However, he told reporters at his press conference that he was still upset with Jones and Channel 9.
Tennis Australia CEO Craig Tiley was also spoken to by the tennis star.
"He stated, "I wanted to ensure that he was aware of my stance and the reasons behind it, so I informed him, 'If you wish to penalize me for not conducting an on-court interview, that's acceptable.' I accept this because I believe it is necessary.""
In a social media post, Elon Musk, the billionaire owner, commented on the situation.
"Direct communication with the public is more beneficial than going through the negativity filter of traditional media," Musk stated.
Djokovic responded, "Indeed."
